About Us
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit, and to read all about us and what we do.
Carly’s Candle Company was born at the end of 2019, after the arrival of our little rainbow baby boy in May of the same year.
So, I'm Carly, The owner, creator, designer and maker of Carly's Candle Company. I decided that after 6 months of maternity leave I needed a little bit of me back, so whilst my little boy (Leo) was napping away, I decided to start researching ways to become more eco friendly, and vegan conscious in our everyday life.
It took us along time to conceive Leo and we suffered a ‘silent’ miscarriage in between, when I finally fell pregnant I was avoiding anything and everything that has the smallest detrimental effect on a pregnancy.
I therefore combined these two things together and started researching candles and other products for the home. I realised that a lot of products for your home are not eco or vegan friendly or very safe for pregnancy, children or animals, due to the amount of toxins that are released….
And, here we are, my second baby of 2019!
Thank you for reading it means a lot to us!! If you have any other questions then please drop me a message through our contact form.
Love Carly x

How to guide for Planting your Seeded Labels.
Step 1:
Tear up the paper into smaller chunks, soak them well in water for half a minute.
Step 2:
Plant the soaked paper under a very thin layer of soil, water them each day to keep moist but don't over water them. Place in the sunniest, warmest place in your house.
Step 3:
Once you see some shoots, allow them to get stronger before planting outside in Spring or Autumn. Germination could take up to a few weeks.
Tips to get the most out of your seeded labels
Tip 1
Place a compostable or biodegradable see-through bag over the plant pot (please don’t do this if you are using biodegradable pots) to create a greenhouse effect.
Make sure to leave enough air to flow through, otherwise your paper will rot. This could make your germination a bit faster plus the bag keeps the moisture in so you would not need to water it as often.
Tip 2
If you do not have a bag keep checking the soil with your finger to make sure it is not drying out and keep watering it every day.
Tip 3
Best to put the pot onto your warmest windowsill away from radiator heat, but please note seedlings do not have the strength to survive a brief drought so try to keep your window shut.
FAQ
What should I do if my candle starts tunneling?
Your candle shouldn't start tunneling, however if you have not been able to burn your candle for long enough for the entire top to melt equally across this can happen. The next time you burn the candle make sure you give it 4 hours before you blow the candle out. This will give the candle enough time to melt the wax all the way across and will reset your candle to an even level.
What type of wax is used for Carlys Candle company products?
We use only Soy wax for all of our wax based products, this is derived from SoyBeans, it contains nothing artificial, no additives and is non-toxic.
What are the differences in candle sizes?
20 CL - 30 + HOURS
30 CL - 65 + HOURS
Do wax melts evaporate?
Wax melts do not evaporate, they will melt down when heated and when cooled solidify, each wax melt should last around 12 - 15 hours.
Are wax melts safe to use around babies and pets?
All of our products are safe to use around babies and pets, our wax, diffuser base and fragrance oils are all toxin free.
Can wax melts cause a headache?
Some wax melts on the market can give you a headache, however ours should not, the fragrance oils and wax used are all toxin free and therefore do not emit any harmful chemicals which could cause this to happen. Some of our fragrances are strong, and the scent should easily fill a room, if you find you are having some sensitivities to the stronger scents, please let me know.
What are wood wick candles?
They are what they say on the jar, the wick is made from wood, many traditional candles are made with a cotton wick but we use sustainably sourced wood. This gives you a much cleaner burn, and combined with soy wax it gives the candle a much slower burn meaning more flame for your pounds.
What are wax melts?
Wax melts are a home fragrance alternative to candles, ours are scented flowers which you pop into a burner, either an electric burner which heats up the melt using a lightbulb or a classic ceramic burner which you need to use a tealight for.
Nice to Know
WHY DO WE USE SOY WAX?
It's all natural:
Vegan & Biodegradable.
Soy wax is derived from Soy Beans, it contains nothing artificial, no additives and is non-toxic.
Delivers a cleaner burn than some of the other waxes on the Market.
When burning and paired with wood wick, it does not release any harmful toxins or by products.
Its Environmentally friendly:
Soy Beans are a renewable resource. It is also one of the safer options health wise, and are a safer option if you are pregnant, have children or pets.
It has a low melting point:
This means a longer burning time which means more candle for your money!! Personally we wanted to produce candles which have the best scent throw, without all of the toxins and byproducts, and we really feel like we have.

WHY DO WE USE WOODEN WICKS?
Sustainability:
Our wood wicks have been sustainably sourced, we have checked with our supplier and they have confirmed this!!
Eco Friendly alternative:
These are a much more eco friendly alternative to the cotton wicks. To start off with cotton wick production uses a lot of water, this is not good for us!! Also wood wicks do not emit any harmful toxins.
Usability:
A little more care and attention is needed for these to last there full life, but it is so worth it. They stand proud even after burning, They burn slowly and evenly with a wider, lower flame and to top it off they have an excellent scent throw, even better when paired with soy wax.
Ambience:
They crackle...it makes things feel so cosy, like you are sat next to a mini wood fire.
OUR REED DIFFUSERS MADE FOR REFILL'S BUT PRETTY ENOUGH TO USE STRAIGHT FROM THE BOTTLE.
It's all natural:
Vegan & Biodegradable.
All of the products used to make the reed diffusers are 100% vegan and biodegradable.
Its Environmentally friendly:
We use natural rattan reeds with no plastic and coating on them. Meaning that they biodegrade over time.
They may take a little longer to absorb the scent, however they last longer.
Long lasting:
We say that our reed diffusers last for about 3 months, however many customers have fed back to say that the diffusers actually last for 6 months plus.
This all depends on the size of the room and keeping them out of direct sunlight light.
Refillable Option:
Once you have finished your reed diffuser, purchase a refill bottle along with new reeds. If it is the same scent then pour it in to the glass container and pop in your new reeds. If it is a new scent, wash your glass container out, wait for it to fully dry and pop in your new scent and reeds.
Candle Product Care
CARING FOR YOUR CANDLES:
Wooden wick candles are a bit different from the traditional cotton wick, they burn longer, cleaner and crackle too. They do however require a bit of extra care and attention, but trust us it is worth it.
- Always ensure you trim your wick before each use, and remove all charred wood from the previous burn.
- Ensure that the candle burns long enough to let the melt across the entire diameter of your candle, this is especially important on the first burn. The first burn is important as this determines how well the candle will continue to burn.
- If the candle self extinguishes, then ensure that all charred wick from the previous burn is removed and then hold a lit match against the wick for 20 - 30 seconds.
- Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time, and never leave it unattended.
We are so proud of our product and range, but please let me know if you have any queries, questions or hesitations.

CARING FOR REED DIFFUSERS:
Our reed diffusers come in a fully recyclable tin with a set of reeds, these can be used as they are or can be used decanted into a different diffuser bottle.

- Shake bottle well before opening.
- Remove top and set aside
- Place the reeds into the bottle (If using the tin bottle) or Decant into your diffuser bottle.
- Place the reeds in the top
- Wait 1 week and then flip the reeds, the reeds should then have absorbed the fragrance all the way through the reeds.
- Reeds are to be turned every 2 weeks, but for a strong scent turn them more regularly.
Additional:
- Do not light the reeds.
- Do not ingest the liquid.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Always wash your hands after turning the reeds.
- Do not place the diffuser on an uneven surface.
- We advise using a coaster to place your reed diffuser onto this will protect surfaces in the case of accidental spillage.
- Reed diffusers will last for approximately 12 to 24 weeks, depending on the size of the room.
Wax Melts Product Care
CARING FOR WAX MELTS:
Our wax melts come in a pack of 6, weighing approximately 7grams each and they last approximately 8-10 hours per melt.
Each set of melts come packaged in a glassine bag, with a scent label, all of the packaging is eco friendly, so it is recyclable or biodegradable.
On the backside of the packages have the relevant CLP Allergen and safety information.
Caring and how to use your Wax melts:
- Place your burner in a safe and stable location, out of reach of children, pets and away from drafts and anything flammable.
- Place one wax melt into the melting pot at the top of the burner. (Do not add water). Reseal the bag or pop the remaining wax melts in an airtight container to keep them safe, ensure these are kept away from children and pets.
- Light a tealight candle (unscented) in the base of the burner and allow the wax to melt - when melted your room will be filled with the beautiful aroma.
- Do not leave a candle unattended, including a tealight.
- After extinguishing the flame the soy wax will then solidify again in the burner. Do not touch this until it has solidified.
- Re-use the wax melt until no scent is released
- To remove the wax melt once the scent has gone, warm the burner up for a short time until you can remove the block of wax, wipe clean and it is then ready for you to reuse.
- You can also use these wax melts as an air freshener, purchase one of our little canvas bags or pop them into some foil and pop them into your wardrobe, drawers or bathroom. Please always remember to keep them out of reach of children and pets.
